I am hoping they continue to put support into this game and make more scenarios as the level up cards they provide in this first box goes beyond the scope of the included scenarios.
If I had to give a con, it would be that I want more scenarios. It's a really cool system and I really can't wait to see more of this. On top of that, you also get an experience system where sometimes you'll get a one time use item for your next scenario, or sometimes you'll get XP to level up one of your out of deck class powers or upgrade/add a card to your starting deck. There are also different difficulty modes built in. There's lots of replayability built in and if you have the character decks, you can always play with different classes. You are trying to beat the boss of each scenario, so at the end of the day, it is pretty straightforward arc of the scenario, but the way they changed things up in each scenario of this base box is definitely interesting. In each scenario, you are faced with a "boss" deck along with a boss AI card. In this first coop campaign box, you are given a small campaign with branching paths that is essentially 3 games of HR. This is where I feel HR really stands out from SR and I am truly excited about the future coop campaign expansions. Each class also has variable starting life.Ĭo-Op Campaign: Is it worth it? Absolutely.
Instead of each player starting with a generic 10 cards, each character pack comes with class specific cards in your deck as well as class specific out of deck power cards. Once you add in the character packs for HR, I think that is where I would prefer HR over SR, because you have a variable start. If you've never played SR before, then it really just comes down to the theme. Unless you just love the fantasy theme, if you are talking base game comparison, then really HR itself doesn't really offer anything different than SR base. I didn't back Hero Realms on KS as it seemed too similar to SR, but once it came out, I decided to pick it up.Ĭharacter Packs - Are they worth it? I feel like if you are interested in this game and you've played Star Realms before, then these are absolutely necessary if you want to enjoy Hero Realms fully.
